Settling In

Well, finally we have an internet connection, of sorts. This is dial-up and very temperamental! In fact it was not working at all the last two days because of the terrible flooding in Jakarta. We were praying for one guy today who is studying in Malang. His family is living in Jakarta and have been forced to stay upstairs because there is two foot of water downstairs. "No internet" certainly counts as a "momentary problem" in comparison!
Thanks to all who have sent comments, keep them coming we do value the encouragements. It is warm here and by the afternoon it is sometimes too hot to do anything at all. I usually shower after school and then feel more like a living being again.
Teaching is going well for me, although it was a challenge to get on top of lesson preparation when we first arrived. Now, I think I have to adjust the level of my essays in Philosophy, In think some of the questions I set may be "too heavy man"! If you have a gift of Intercession - please pray that our boxes be released in heavenly places so that we can receive them on earth! We miss you all, but it is all going well thanks to the Lord's great help.
Sometimes things are tough especially when emotional waves come over us which are just the normal manifestations of "culture shock". But, we seem to be able to be keeping all that in perspective so far at least.
Food is great (mostly), and ranges from - the best "Chinese" restaurant food EVER to - something strange I don't want to see near my plate again thanks. you really ought to see our kettle. Oh, OK I'll post a photo of it. It is a plastic jug with an element stuck in it, no earth connection, and no cut off switch. We just unplug it quick before it explodes. Much more exciting than yours I'm sure.

The weather is ... warm to hot and it is supposed to be the rainy season but at the moment it only rains at night and perhaps a total of one hour in the day time.
